Hello! My name is Terri Carnes and I teach American Sign Language I., II., III., and IV.
A little about myself. I grew up and graduated from Hondo, Texas. After graduation, I attended Southwest Texas State University (Texas State) in San Marcos. While attending college, I took ASL to meet my foreign language requirement. That started opening many doors and opportunities for me. I immediately began working in Austin with Deaf adults and within a year got my ASL interpreters certification and began free lance interpreting around the area. I received my degree in Psychology and returned to UTSA to get my teachers certification in ASL. After having my two wonderful children, I decided to move back to my hometown of Hondo and raise them there in the comfort of a small town. This is my eleventh year here at McCollum and have enjoyed every single moment.
I look forward to seeing my advanced levels come back and look forward to getting to know my new students. I can't wait to see you master a new language. This will be a great year!
